Basic Geometry This one is a variation on a previous drawing ‘The Venus of The Hague – 29-05-20’. However, this time it is constructed out of basic geometric forms only: the circle, cube and triangle. Through this one I show what controlled and distilled passion may bring. My goal was, within the reach of abstraction, to express the essence of the female body. Roundness Preserved Even though geometrics abstract the body, it did maintain a certain roundness due to the soft tonal course in them. Such induces a reference to atmospheric depth. That is why my sort of cubism is like a whale is not a fish. As stated before, I reject the multi-perspectivisim of the original cubism movement, started by Braque and Picasso. Lighting The light source at the upper left is my LED light lamp on the bedside table you also see in the other Venus variations. Besides that, it felt as if the drawing needed that extra in the upper left corner. Otherwise it would have become a little bi
