In Search of … This graphite pencil drawing ’The Venus of The Hague - 18-06-20’ is a return to abstraction. Last one was surrealist but laborious. And so it goes, back and forth, simply coming to the conclusion I like so many styles. What first was yet an attempt to find another style became a parade of celebrating each and any. The Series ‘18 Variations on the Same Theme’ brought me my smooth graphite style at least. Could it be that I’m overstretching? Maybe, but I also like my search and this what an artist should do. Paint and draw what he or she likes. Liking and feeling fine is my guide. Maximizing Openess Surely no complaints here. There was one version planned on the menu that still was lacking: straight lines only. So, there it is: quite angular of nature. This one was bound to appear in my mind after the display of surrealism. Maximizing openess was my very aim: in planes and the outer contour delineation of the body strucures. The focus I kept on the end
