Cubism Again This graphite pencil drawing ‘The Venus of The Hague – 26-05-20’ is a slight variation to the last one of threes days ago. They both are cubist but with a different accent, preceded only by base version ’18-05-20’. You could say I turned up the abstraction one gear further. For example, the curve in the back is very much straightened out. Besides that the lighting in the calves and thighs has become less realistic than visible in the previous drawings. Find Out About Abstraction Now let me tell you what I find out about abstraction lately. I came to see that abstraction comes with letting go atmospheric depths and finding new forms in return. Such are for example the curves from her buttocks extending upwards. Somehow I found a way to have them echo by the styled round shadow in the lower mid section.
