This Painting was created in commemoration of the UN Global Conference on the Sustainable Development of small island developing states (SIDS). The conference was held in Barbados from 25 April to 6 May 1994, and the Barbados Community College which had been temporarily renamed THE VILLAGE OF HOPE was a major venue. The artist Ras Jahaziel Tafari exhibited his work there in what was a memorable experience, meeting children and adults from all over the world on a daily basis. The painting really represents THE ORIGINAL RASTAFARI VISION that was sought after by early Rastafari Idren and Sistren who aspired to leaving out the concrete jungle and living the Ital live in Iration. Of course that vision did not materialize for many, because ACCESS TO LAND has always been a major handicap to the captive African.
