This image is a composite of two photos from the public domain. The first is a NASA image of the earth from space. The second photo, is from the fire bombing of Dresden, Germany, in 1944. In that photo a wagon holds a pile of bodies, victims of the bombing. It is estimated that 20,000 people died in the attack. If you look closely, one of the victims, a woman, has red hair which was added by the artist. Following the carnage, the allies decreased their bombing of civilian targets. Although often overlooked by history, the bombing of Dresden rivaled the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which occurred less than a year later. Open to interpretation. Limited edition of 50.
