Artist Peter B Holden is unique in how he incorporates his canvas and frames an be a part of his paintings.
Peter B Holden was born on February 25, 1959, in Rotterdam - Holland. As a young man he was somewhat rebellious and always interested in a new challenge. At the age of four he loved to draw pictures with pen and pencil and at the age of seven he begun to paint. Born in a household with 8 children money was tied and painting supplies were only available in school. So, he used it. From the age of seven he started to make paintings, and soon the neighbors saw what he was doing and complimented him on his work. He loved these compliments, and as a thank you he gave them a drawing or painting for their homes. At age fifteen a neighbor (who was teacher at the art academy in Utrecht) saw his work and asked him to join the academy. His parents refused to send him because in art is no future, they told him. Disappointed he gave up painting and started to work in a hospital for cancer patients. He liked his job, but Peter connected with the patients, and when they died, he grieved to the point that he felt sick. He went to business school to start his own business. During this time, he experienced break-ups in relationships, loss of company and his father passed to whom he had not spoken for the last ten years, and all this in the time span of one year. He became a broken man which let him to paint again. With only a few dollars to his name, he decided to leave Holland to become an artist and moved to Paris in the hope to be hired as an apprentice. He was alone and seek Spiritual guidance from God which he found. Nothing seems to work in Paris and no jobs were offered other than painting the faces of tourists. His money was running out, and he begun to prepare for homelessness. His last day in a hotel a friend found him and offered him a job in Geneva, Switzerland. He was able to make some money, and moved to Germany to be with his friend. "I am not going back to Holland" Peter said. After a week the phone rang and a job opening in New York was offered to him, which he took. He worked hard and never had time to paint. After a few years Peter met his wife, got married and had two children. Together they build a business and now after 20 years the artist Peter emerged again. At age 62 he picked up his paint and brushes of which you see the result on this page. His 2021 Collection series called "Freedom".
