This illustration is part of a series I started during the pandemic's second wave on ordinary people in Italy, my country. I always found fascinating the characters who inhabit our cities without people paying much attention to them. So, this year, also to cast out the loneliness of these challenging times we're living, I finally began drawing some of them. This illustration portrays two Moldavian women. Every Sunday, they get together with other ex-pats in the green areas of the city to recharge themselves for tackling the hardships of the new week. They bring traditional home-cooked food and beverage to share together. Their reunions always look like a celebration. They talk a lot, laugh and videocall the friends who couldn't be there with them to make them part anyway. That time, a red-haired woman particularly caught my attention because of the sad and gloomy look in her eyes. Her friend seemed to be comforting her, or at least that's how I read the situation.
